Noobus Hattus

School-style house point system for an esports community

Noobus Hattus is a Discord bot I wrote for an esports community server. The idea was to host a limited time event, where players are optionally sorted into houses, where good behaviour is rewarded with house points. Points could be manually awarded by admins, but most points were awarded by analysing the game’s logs and detecting good behaviour. At the end of the season, the winning house gets a coloured Discord role for the length of the next season.

The bot was a pretty big success! Noobus Hattus incentivised good behaviour, players wanted to win, and friendly rivalries formed throughout the server. 3 seasons have so far been held, with high engagement of around 80 players per season, and over 100 unique players taking part.
